How To Use Protimeter MMS

3. Condensator Mode
The condensator mode is used for confirming the presence of condensation and or risk assessment by comparing surface temperatures with the dew point of the environment under investigation. When used with the surface temperature sensor the Protimeter MMS can make the following measurements:
• Relative humidity
• Ambient temperature
• Dew point
• Surface temperature
• Difference between surface temperature and dew point

With the hygrostick placed in the top slot, press the button until you obtain the Condensator mode.


Relative Humidity
To measure the humidity of the room, press the button until %rh is displayed.


Ambient Air Temperature
To measure the ambient air temperature within the room, press the button until TAIR is displayed.


Dew Point Temperature
To measure the dew point temperature of a surface were moisture will form and condense, press the button until TDEW is displayed.


Surface Temperature
By taking the surface temperature, you will be able to ascertain if the moisture is from condensation or structural. If the surface temperature is below the TDEW reading, condensation will occur. Plug the surface temperature sensor into the side of the instrument. Place the metal strip onto the surface. Press the button until TS is displayed.


Difference between Dew point and surface temperature
If the difference between the dew point and the surface temperature is a positive, then condensation will not occur. The Protimeter MMS will indicate ‘NO CONDENSATION’. If the difference is a negative then the moisture on the surface could be caused by condensation. The Protimeter MMS will indicate ‘CONDENSATION’.

Press the button until TDIFF is displayed.
